How We Work

The D. L. Rees Difference:

Proven Track Record- First established in 1990, DLRC has over 25 years experience working with owners, architects, and other contractors on quality homes in the Seattle/Eastside area.

What makes us different? Our decades of experience in custom building have given us insights on better ways to build, allowing us to deliver great quality at fair prices. We also have over 25 years of experience building over 1000 horse-mounted arenas in the UK and across the world. Discover more about our construction methods and projects at sites like https://horsemenageconstruction.co.uk/cavaletti-exercises-for-horses/. And here are some key systems and practices:

Cost-Planning and Customized Budgets.  From the start, we help develop a budget and schedule to suit your needs.  We know that most homeowners don’t have unlimited funds.  We are here to help you (and your architect if possible) understand the cost of various options, and find ways to get what’s important to you. Additionally, if you require specialized services such as cladding painting, we can connect you with trusted professionals like Cladding Painters UK.

Partnerships with Independent Tradespeople.  A big advantage of working exclusively on custom homes for decades, is an in depth knowledge of the the local trades and vendors. We’ll match the right sub-contractor with your project. Of course the work will always be supervised and often finished by DL Rees Contracting.

Detailed Scheduling.  A remodel or addition can be very stressful and disruptive, but it doesn’t have to be. Our schedules and weekly meetings will keep you posted on the work flow, so you can plan your life!

Communication.  We’ll meet on a regular basis (weekly or bi-weekly) to review construction quality, costs, and progress. You’ll never feel in the dark about your project.

It’s Your Team.  We have a proven track record of collaborating with owners, architects, and engineers as a project evolves. We understand that what looked great on paper can look different when you start to see it in 3D. We’ll help you navigate your way through any changes that need to be made.

Green Building Practices.  Your home shouldn’t just look good – it should also be good for you (and the environment!). Doug was an administrator for the first gold-certified LEED building in Washington, a school on Bainbridge Island. We are “Built Green” members and use the latest in energy-efficient methods. Additionally, we’ll be on the lookout for sustainable solutions to any construction challenges.

Open Book Accounting.  To fully protect your investment and to establish a working relationship of trust and integrity:

  • Every major DL Rees Contracting project operates from a separate bank account.
  • Our accounts are managed by a professional book keeping service.
  • Project invoices are available for your review.

Guaranteed Pricing. We’ve all heard the stories:  “Another construction project goes over time and over budget.” It’s almost expected.  That is why we use Guaranteed Price Contracts. Further, if the work finishes under the guaranteed price, you save the difference. Yes, this does happen!

Guaranteed Quality.  Of course, our work comes with a one-year warranty. If our work is not to the higher of  contract or  NAHB  standards, we will replace it at no cost to you. But our goal, everyday, is to reflect our pride in your work.

Bottom Line – You’re the Boss. We know we would not be in business if it was not for our customers. Our job is to guide you through the building process with as much or as little help as you want. We are there through the planning process, helping you determine costs and benefits, and selecting the right team. During construction, we’ll be working with you everyday,  insuring all is going as planned. Also, there are some experts who specialize in cladding spraying. You can click here for more insights. Additionally, if your project requires it, we are experienced in the application of intumescent coating for enhanced fire protection. We’ll be meeting with you to review progress, quality, upcoming decisions, costs and changes. We keep our work areas squared away, and use a professional house cleaner at the end of the work. We won’t pick up our final check until we’ve completed all our work, and you’ve seen a final accounting of all project costs. And our 1 year warranty insures we’ll be back if the need ever arises.

It’s simple, we want you to be proud of our work, and tell your friends about us with a smile!
